Perimenopause and menopause

Perimenopause and menopause are seasons of life that can feel like a rollercoaster ride you never asked to board. One day you feel like yourself, the next day you’re wondering who this moody, sleep-deprived version of you is. If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. Women in their 40s, 50s, and 60s—whether raising teens, playing with grandkids, working full-time, or enjoying retirement—share many of the same struggles. The good news? There are simple, practical steps that can help you navigate this stage with more peace and balance.

Prioritize Restful Sleep. Hot flashes, night sweats, or restless thoughts can make sleep elusive. Start with a calming nighttime routine—dim the lights, sip a caffeine-free tea, and avoid screens before bed. Essential oils like lavender or cedarwood can help signal to your body that it’s time to wind down. Protecting your rest makes everything else—your mood, energy, and focus—more manageable.

Nourish Your Body with Balance. What you eat plays a big role in how you feel. Focus on whole foods that support steady energy and hormone health—plenty of colorful vegetables, lean protein, and healthy fats. Cut back on sugar and processed foods, which can spike blood sugar and intensify mood swings. Staying hydrated (with water, not just coffee!) also supports your body through this transition.

Move Your Body—Gently but Consistently. Exercise doesn’t have to mean high-intensity workouts. Walking, yoga, stretching, or strength training a few times a week can ease joint stiffness, boost your mood, and support bone health. The goal is not perfection, but consistency—find movement you enjoy and make it part of your lifestyle.

Manage Stress Before It Manages You. Hormonal changes can magnify stress, leaving you feeling overwhelmed. Deep breathing, journaling, prayer, or even just stepping outside for fresh air can help reset your nervous system. Building in small daily practices to calm your mind can make a big difference in how you respond to challenges.

Seek Community and Support. Perhaps the most powerful step is remembering you don’t have to do this alone. Share your experiences with trusted friends, connect with other women going through the same stage, or join a workshop designed to give you tools and encouragement. Having a community reminds you that these changes are normal and survivable.

You are not broken—you’re simply entering a new chapter. And the more you care for your body and mind, the smoother the transition can be.

Meet Sue Filling

This may not be the best picture of me and my husband, Mike, but it sure shows our true spirit of love, laughter and "informality". Welcome!

I'm a wife, mother, grandma, and friend who made it this far by the Grace of God! I love Jesus, my family and friends, horses, podcasts and healthy living.

I used to struggle with seasonal headaches. They hit me hard every year. I'd pop over-the-counter products every night just to wake up without the pain.

That’s when I discovered lemon, lavender, and peppermint—and everything changed. That simple swap made a noticeable difference in my life. From there, I was inspired to seek out natural alternatives for nearly everything I used.

Now, I help people who are looking for their own natural options. I guide them toward a healthier, more toxin-free lifestyle—one step at a time.

If that’s you, get in touch—I’d love to help.
